Redneck should not equal Republican...

I'm off of work and tired. I've completed the first six chapters in "Writing Space," so I plan on completing a blog this weekend that actually has something to do with the relationship between technology and the world of written word. Tonight however, I am far too tired to negotiate the caverns of my mind while formulating rational thought-out diatribes about the effect of technology on the past, present, and future of writing. I would like to share a couple of very endearing bumper stickers I saw today. I tried to take a picture for the ol' blog, but as I focused the camera lenses the light turned green. First off, "Just Say No To: Osama, Obama, and Chelsea's Mama." Wow buddy, the election is over. Guess what, your side lost. I can understand your general hatred of Osama. He is the alleged mastermind of the 911 bombings, and it is your Christian duty to hate all Muslims. What glaring shortcomings are owned by Obama and Hilary? Oh I know, Obama is BLACK and Hilary is a WOMAN. Having either of them as your president would disprove the superiority of the RWP, Rich White Protestant. Secondly, "Kids Who Hunt and Fish Don't Steal and Deal." I really don't even have a whole lot to say about this one. Please explain the logic behind that statement. I know plenty of people who grew up hunting and fishing. I also know plenty of people who in adulthood steal and deal. Many fit into both categories. I'm gonna get a bumper sticker of my own, "Kid Who Take Karate Grow Up And Date Asian Girl." Offensive? Yes, but it follows the same logic and apparently it is my American duty to use my car as a billboard for every cause, no matter how illogical, I may loosely believe in. The saddest part of it all is this guy was chain smoking cigarettes, drinking something in a brown paper bag, and driving a company truck. He was blue-collar. A working man. It's a common breed in southeast Texas: Republican out of ignorance/religious Republicanism. Two Questions: Were the bumper stickers approved/sanctioned by his superiors at work? What has the right-wing conservative party done for him lately? Think of his lifestyle. Now think about the lifestyle shared by the leaders and senior members of his party. What do they have in common? How can these people relate to him in any way. How can they feel empathy for him and his daily struggle. They do not have his interests at heart. He is not rich. He is not a business owner. He is not a Republican. He may have conservative social views, but that doesn't make him a Republican. What is he? He is afraid of the harsh realities in the world: crime, drugs, economic instability, social unrest, the middle east, etc. Everyday the media reminds him about 911, announces homeland security threats that never materialize, and destroys all faith in the economy. Everyday he is reminded to fear. Hhhmmm, rule through fear. I think we call that TERRORISM.
